| SCHOOL BACKGROUND: | The 1-205th is a general studies battalion located
in Redmond, Washington. It is composed of a Headquarters Staff, three
training companies and a special schools section. The battalion plans, coordinates, and
conducts formal military training and instruction year round at Camp Murray, the Redmond
Armory, and the Yakima Training Center. Upon request, the battalion can also provide
training teams to instruct individual units or detachments at their armory locations. The
1-205th provides instructors, cadre and publications for training but relies on Washington
Army National Guard units to provide logistical, equipment and personnel support. 1. The 1-205th battalion headquarters is at Redmond. This building houses the offices of the Battalion Commander, Executive Officer, Battalion Command Sergeant Major, and the S-1 (Personnel and Administration) Section. There is also a classroom for up to 100 students. a. The S-3 (Operations and Training) section is located at Redmond. b. The S-4 (Logistics and Supply) section is located at Redmond. 2. The 1-205th has three training companies: a. Company A is the Combat Arms School. Comprised of instructors and cadre, this company is responsible for conducting Military Occupational Skill Qualification (MOS-Q) courses. Located in building 45, Camp Murray, Tacoma, Washington, the company provides MOS-Q for Infantry (Mech) and Armor (19K). b. Company B is the Officer Candidate School. Comprised of instructors, TAC Officers and NCOs, and other cadre, this company is responsible for conducting pre-commissioning courses for officer candidates. Located in Building 501, Redmond Armory, Redmond, Washington, the company provides basic officer branch immaterial training as directed by the United States Infantry School and the National Guard Bureau. c. Company C is the Non-Commissioned Officer Academy. Comprised of instructors and cadre, this company is responsible for conducting NCO professional development. Located in Building 500, Redmond Armory, Redmond, Washington, the company provides Phase I ANCOC and BNCOC training as directed by the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy and the National Guard Bureau. 3. The Special Schools Section is located in building 500, Redmond Armory, Redmond, Washington. As part of the S-3 (Operations and Training) section, Special Schools provides instruction for approved TRADOC courses in Small Group Instruction (SGI), Total Army Instructors Training (TAITC), and Combat Lifesaver Course (CLC). Special Schools has the additional duty of managing The Adjutant Generals directed courses for the Washington Army National Guard such as Company Level Pre-Command Course (CLPCC), and Disaster and Emergency Preparedness Training (MACDIS/CIDTEP). |
